  17. <p>A jury verdict blames General Motors for the death of a teenager
  18. </p>
  19. <p>     General Motors denied that its sidesaddle gas tanks caused
  20. the death of Shannon Moseley, a 17-year-old killed when his
  21. 1985-model GMC pickup exploded three years ago. As it has in
  22. some 100 similar cases, GM called the driver the culprit.
  23. </p>
  24. <p>     The jury disagreed. Moved by a prosecutor's prediction
  25. that without a recall, "more will burn, more will die," visibly
  26. angered jurors granted $105 million in collective damages. GM's
  27. ultimate loss depends on whether the Federal Government orders
  28. the company to recall all 4.7 million pickups and spend $500
  29. million doing so.
